ECONOMIC TEAM OF GOVERNMENT MEETS AT MOE



Members of the Economic Team of Government met today at the Ministry of Economy of Georgia to discuss issues related to the position of the national currency of the country. Meeting with H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy was attended by H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance, H.E. David Shavliashvili, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Mr. David Narmania, Mayor of Tbilisi, Mr. Giorgi Gakharia, Secretary of the Economic Council, representative of the Partnership Fund and other officials.
“We discussed the most recent available information on the exchange rate and state budget execution indicators. Also, we scrutinized the actual information on the capital expenditures earmarked in the budget. We talked about some additional measures facilitating the business operation and investments. These discussions are now in progress at the Economic Council led by H.E. Prime Minister of Georgia. Decisions will be taken in the nearest future.
Situation is not simple. A lot of components need to be implemented to improve the current situation. In the context of an agreed and common action plan, we believe the country’s position will shortly improve in a very simple manner. We need to work jointly – both at the executive and legislative levels” noted H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development upon completion of the meeting.
In the opinion of H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia, very tangible plan has been defined by the Economic Team. Today’s meeting was dedicated to the improvement of the current situation in the nearest period of time.
“We believe that joint performed in parallel by the executive authority of the country and its central bank will lead to the resolution of the problem” stated H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia.
