H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia attended a coordination meeting to discuss the East-West Highway Traffic Corridor Improvement Program gathering the Government of Georgia (GOG) and donor agencies on June 25, 2015.
Meeting was jointly organized by the World Bank and Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Event was attended by H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development; H.E. Nodar Javakhishvili, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development; Mr. Henry Kerali, Regional Director of the World Bank for South Caucasus.
As noted by Minister of Finance at the donor coordination meeting, development of various sectors of infrastructure in Georgia is key to the economic growth of the country. Main priority in this regard remains to be the road infrastructure. He believes that it is utterly important to view the most complicated fragment of the East-West Highway (Rikoti-Zestaponi Segment of the Project) in financial and technical prism.
Meeting participants also reviewed the findings of the due diligence and feasibility study conducted for the Rikoti and Argveti fragments of the East-West Highway.
Improvement of the referred highway is key to the transformation of Georgia into a transport and logistics hub.
