With an initiative of H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia a meeting was held on September 10, 2015 on the issues related to the reform agenda of audit and financial reporting in the country.

Meeting participants got exposed to the Concept developed by an Inter-Departmental Workgroup on the implementation of commitments assumed under the EU Association Agreement and within the scope of approximation of Georgian legislation with EU Directives.

Open discussion was held on the major principles and anticipated measures that need to be implemented for the increased transparency of companies and boosted effectiveness of the financial sector. In addition, development of corporate governance principles and increased credibility towards audit firms will be facilitated.

Decision-makers from the Fiscal Committee of the Parliament, leading business associations, professional accounting firms, experts and members of the Inter-Departmental Workgroup established at the Ministry of Finance of Georgia attended the meeting. The referred workgroup is managed by Mr. Giorgi Tabuashvili, First Deputy Minister of Finance and Director General (DG) of the Georgian Revenue Service (GRS).
