H.E Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia visited the Adjara region today to hear about the liquidation measures carried out in response to the local natural disaster.
Minister of Finance of Georgia attended an ad-hoc meeting at the Government Administration of the Autonomous Republic together with Mr. Archil Khabadze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
Governors and Head of the Road and Environmental Departments have briefed the Minister of Finance of Georgia on the local situation.
As Chairman of the Local Government has noted, the massive rainfall did not harm significantly the city of Batumi. Wastewater canals and streams to the Black Sea are periodically cleaned. Problems have been faced by the local population as a result of the strong wind and massive rainfall in the municipality. Trees have been blown off and fell on the roofs of houses, damaging them badly. Currently temporary roofing have been provided.
Several individuals have been lightly damaged during the natural disaster, who have been treated on time at local healthcare facilities. Local residents were put at risk by the landslide in Khulo, Vashlovani village. Therefore, they have been relocated to a safe place.
Liquidation works have been actively carried out during the day. Clean-up works applied to roads of local significance. Utility works are completed already and subscribers are supplied with natural gas in an uninterrupted manner. Classes have resumed at every local school.
Power energy was disconnected from majority of residents in Adjarian Highlands as a result of the natural disaster. Nevertheless, it has been gradually recovered and 1800 subscribers will get connected shortly.
Minister of Finance will visit the villages affected by the natural disaster tomorrow.
