H.E. Bulent Tufenkci, Minister of Customs and Trade of the Republic of Turkey will visit Georgia by the invitation of H.E. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia on October 4, 2016.
Decision on the visit has been taken at a bilateral meeting held within the scope of the International Day of Customs celebrated in Ankara on January 26, 2016.
Parties will discuss bilateral cooperation and efforts to be made towards regional security and trade facilitation by customs administrations of the two countries. Plans will be set for improving the competitiveness of the transport corridor, including the further reduction of administrative expenditures.
Special focus will be made on the improved coordination of Georgian and Turkish customs officers for the smooth and efficient clearance of passengers, cargo and vehicles to avoid delays during the reconstruction of the Turkish segment of Sarpi Customs Check Point. Also, discussions will relate to the introduction of flexible and modernized customs procedures for passenger and cargo transportation through the new Akhalkalaki-Karsi railway link.
Meetings of the Minister of Customs and Trade of the Republic of Turkey are also planned with other government officials of Georgia, along with the site visits to selected customs infrastructure points (including the Economic Clearance Zone).
