The Minister of Finance talked about the prospects of human capital development at the World Bank's Organized Summit



Within the framework of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, the third annual summit was held on the New Global Initiative on "Human Capital Development Project" of the World Bank, which envisages implementation of intensive reforms in the fields of Education and Healthcare.

The Minister of Finance Ivane Matchavariani delivered a speech at the summit, he spoke about the recent progress in the fields of education and healthcare in Georgia and challenges facing the country. He also noted that development of human capital is one of the main preconditions for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
It is worth mentioning that Georgia was named among 20 early adopter countries.

 
In his speech the Minister of Finance thanked the World Bank for initiating the project and noted that development of human capital is one of the main preconditions for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.


He said that the Government of Georgia intends to implement important reforms in this direction and it is first of all linked to the education sector. According to the Minister of Finance the planned reforms will be implemented in accordance with the best international practice and ensure high quality of education and universal availability.

As the Minister of Finance noted, the government plans to increase the cost of education towards the education system gradually, in order to make Georgia an internationally recognized reformer country in terms of human capital development.

The Minister of Finance emphasized the Government's social policy and measures taken in the health sector. He also talked about reforms planned in the system aimed at more efficient use of financial resources.

The  Minister  of  Finance  of  Georgia  emphasized  that  unanimity  inside  the  country,  of  the government, private sector and society, as well as the cooperation and joint efforts globally, of the countries’ governments and international organizations are critically important for the successful implementation of reforms in the manner of development the human capital.
The summit was opened by World Bank President JIM YONG KIM with Singapore's Prime Minister

LEE SYAN LONG, which represents the leader country of the Human Capital Index.

At the summit the Finance Ministers of the Early Structuring Countries of the Human Capital Project, as well as the heads of the global funding supporters of the project delivered a speech and talked about the necessity of raising investment in education and healthcare. The heads were: co- founders of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation MELINDA GATES, UNICEF Executive Director HENRIETA FORE, Vice Chairperson of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group ACHIM STEINER and other global leaders.
