Ivane Matchavariani met with the Executive Director of the World Bank



Within the framework of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings, the Minister of Finance Ivane Matchavariani met with the Executive Director of the World Bank, Feank Himskerk.

The sides discussed the ongoing projects and future cooperation supported by the World Bank in Georgia.

At the meeting, the highest assessment was given to the first visit of the delegation of the Executive Directors of the World Bank in Georgia of May of the current year. Also, the attention was focused on the importance of approving the framework document for cooperation with Georgia in 2019-2022 by the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank Group.

The  discussion  touched  upon  the  World  Bank's  new  global  initiative   on  "Human  Capital Development Project.” It is worth mentioning that Georgia was named among 20 early adopter countries.

The Finance Minister thanked the Executive Director of the World Bank for initiating this project and noted that human capital development is one of the priorities of the Government of Georgia.
 
The World Bank is an active supporter of ongoing reforms in Georgia.  During the 25 years of cooperation with the World Bank, about 4.3 billion US dollars in more than 100 projects were invested in our country.
