The Minister of Finance Ivane Matchavariani met with the Vice President of the European Investment Bank.



Today, the Minister of Finance of Georgia Ivane Matchavariani met with Vice President of European Investment Bank (EIB), Vazil Hudak, who is on a working visit to Georgia.

On the meeting held at the Ministry of Finance, a high assessment was given to positive dynamics of cooperation between Georgia and the European Investment Bank.

The Parties particularly emphasized the current and future importance of modernization of transport and municipal infrastructure, country's energy security, private sector (including small and medium businesses), by using DCFTA's Eastern Initiative and InnovFin tools, in the direction of innovative business support, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.The discussion was also focused on the infrastructure projects, for which financial resources in amount of EUR 250 million is allocated by the bank.


As it was noted, the development and promotion of strategic transport infrastructure of the country is especially important for enhancing country's competitiveness and transit function.


The signing ceremony of this document will be held on February 19. As of today, the volume of investment projects financed by the Bank in the public sector is around EUR 1,33 billion. EIB has allocated EUR 215.8 million financial resource in the private sector.
