Minister of Finance of Georgia met with Permanent Representative of the International Monetary Fund in Georgia



Minister of Finance of Georgia Ivane Matchavariani and Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund in Georgia, François Painchaud have discussed the International Monetary Fund Program, future priorities and technical assistance at an introductory meeting held at the Ministry of Finance.

At the meeting the Minister of Finance thanked the guest for cooperation and expressed satisfaction over the successful completion of the second review of the current program "extended financing mechanism". According to him, the program is very important for Georgia because it is based on the agenda of reforms of the Government of Georgia and supports achievement of strategic goals of the Country.
As the Minister of Finance noted, the Georgian side will continue its policy in the framework of IMF program that focuses on control over current expenditures, capital expenditure, VAT returns and reduction of fiscal deficit.

On the meeting the ongoing economic, fiscal and structural reforms also were discussed, as well was the IMF technical assistance program aimed at institutional strengthening of the Ministry of Finance.

As it was noted, the International Monetary Fund will continue to support Georgia in the process of reforms.
