Minister of Finance Ivane Matchavariani has met the new Regional Director of the World Bank



“The programs of those reforms, which are implemented by Georgia in the last few years, are very impressive” – has stated the new World Bank's Regional Director for the South Caucasus Sebastian Molineus on the meeting with Minister of Finance Ivane Matchavariani.

Ivane Matchavariani has congratulated the guest on the new position and thanked the World Bank for effective and productive cooperation.

The ongoing projects funded by World Bank in infrastructure direction was emphasized, also the reforms planned by the Government of Georgia in terms of human capital development and education were discussed.

It was mentioned, that the agreement for the amount of EUR 90 million, signed a few days ago for the implementation of the project “Innovation, Inclusive Education and Quality”, will promote the successful implementation of the education reform. This project is in full compliance with 2019-2022 strategy of World Bank's partnership for Georgia and will support the Government of Georgia in the implementation of 2018-2023 education reform.

The progress achieved by Georgia in the process of reforms has been positively assessed at the meeting and was expressed hope, that the cooperation between the World Bank and the Government of Georgia will be more deepened in the further.

The World Bank is an active supporter of ongoing reforms in Georgia. During the 25-year period of cooperation, the World Bank Group has invested about $ 4.3 billion in the country.
