World Bank will continue supporting the reform ensuring economic growth and sustainable development in Georgia.



The issue of cooperation between Georgia and World Bank were discussed for sustainable development by The Minister of Finance, Ivane Matchavariani today, during the meetings with World Bank Representatives.
The representative delegation was headed by the regional director of World Bank in the South Caucasus, Sebastian Molineus and the Regional director of World Bank in sustainable development issues, Stephen Shonberger. (Steven N. Schonberger)

The Minister of Finance introduced the guests with the economic situation of the country, the state reform plan during the meeting. The discussion referred to the 2020 budget priorities, including sustainable development.

The representatives of the World Bank positively assessed the development of World Bank supported urban and sustainable development projects.

Bank regional director congratulated Georgian party with the achieved success indicated in the World Bank research of 2019 “World management indicator” and mentioned that Georgia was among the top reformer countries according to those data.

During the meeting the progress achieved during the reform process was assessed positively and expressed the hope for deepening future cooperation between World Bank and Georgian Government.

World Bank is an important donor for Georgia. World Bank implemented about 4.3 billion of USD
investment during more than 25 years of cooperation with Georgia.
