The financial agreements were signed in the Energy and Water supply sectors between Georgia and Germany



Today, under the visit of the President of German Federal Republic, the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Ivane Matchavariani FF and KFW Director of European and Asian Department, Stephan Opitz signed the loan agreement.

“Water infrastructure in Batumi” in the amount of 60 million Euro (KFW)

The project includes the rehabilitation of the sewage system of Batumi city attached areas, Khelvachauri town, Mejinistskali, Kakhaberi, Adlia-airport, Makhinjauri and Mtsvane Kontskhi settlements. Construction of the reservoir near the Injalo reservoirs and Adlia sewage cleaning facility development and enhancement, Chakvi water headwork and Mejinitskali water headwork construction rehabilitation.

The project supports to improvement of the water supply system in the project quicker development of the tourism and improvement of visitors’ service quality.

Today, the parties signed the grant agreement

“Energy efficient activities and approximation to the EU energy efficiency standards of the buildings, Phase II”.

Under the above-mentioned agreement, the German party allocated additional funding in the amount of 1.8 million Euro on june14 2019 for the agreement “Energy efficient activities and approximation to the EU energy efficiency standards of the buildings”, signed between KfW and Georgia (5.7 million Euro grant).

According to the agreement reception in total 7.5 million Euro is considered. The project includes rehabilitation of 25 kindergartens and one of the historical buildings (selection in agreement with KfW and Batumi City Hall) in Batumi city in accordance with the energy efficiency standards.

The project is very important for the region and it ensures improvement of an educational environment and energy safety.

The state secretary of German Federation Republic, Thomas Bareiss, and EU Ambassador to Georgia, Carl Hartzell, Adzharia Autonomic Republic Government Head, and Tornike Rizhvadze also attended the official signing of the Agreement together other invited guests.
