Minister of Finance of Georgia Ivane Matchavariani and Deputy Director-General of the European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Katarína Mathernová discussed Georgia - EU ongoing cooperation.

At the introductory meeting, the Minister of Finance once again emphasized the importance of the EU assistance to Georgia in terms of budgetary support, as well as for the investment projects.

Deputy Director-General of the European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations congratulated the Minister of Finance on his appointment and wished success in future activities. She stressed Georgia's willingness to continue working on European integration issues, as well as on implementation of structural reforms.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the current situation of the ongoing programs, that are financially supported by the European Union. Particular attention was paid to the Government's planned reforms in support of SMEs and the possibility of using new instruments under the Foreign Investment Plan in this regard. The discussion also touched upon the possibilities that Georgia has in terms of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement as well as in the direction of the energy efficiency policy.
The parties also discussed other priority issues regarding cooperation of Georgia with the European Commission.
