Minister of Finance of Georgia, Ivane Matchavariani handed the five customs officers of Customs Department of Revenue Service with Certificates of Appreciation for high professionalism and performing special difficulty task.
On October 15 of the current year, the employs of the customs checkpoint "Tbilisi Airport" found a huge quantity of narcotic drugs on Dubai-Tbilisi flight.
Along with them, Minister of Finance, Ivane Matchavariani, congratulated the Christmas and New Year to those customs officers of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, who guard the country's economic borders throughout the country 24/7. The Minister of Finance thanked all of them for their work in 2018 and wished success in new 2019.
"I would like to congratulate every employee of the revenue service of the Ministry of Finance with the New Year. Especially, the customs officers, as they are practically working in a 24-hour regime. It is symbolic that we arrived at Tbilisi International Airport, where there is an incredibly
big work - load. Compared to last year, the number of flights was increased by 4 thousand and the passenger’s number is increased by 700,000. Today, we have selected 5 employees who have especially shown their work performance and have discovered a large quantity of drugs. Of course, we should not forget the other employees who also contribute to the security of our country's economic borders greatly, "noted the Minister of Finance.
According to him, important reforms and innovations will be implemented in the direction of customs next year.
"Next year, we will have a new customs code that is in full compliance with European standards. At the same time, intensive process of customs digitalization is under way. Georgia will be one of the first Country and the world, which will have high-quality digital customs ", - stated Ivane Matchavariani.
