The Minister of Finance Ivane Matchavariani met with the Chairman of the China International Development and Cooperation Agency



Issues of cooperation between Georgia and China were discussed by the Minister of Finance, Ivane Matchavariani, and the Chairman of China International Development and Cooperation Agency, Wang Xiaotao, at today's meeting.

The purpose of the Chinese delegation’s visit is to introduce the projects implemented within the framework of economic to Georgia and technical cooperation and to discuss the future cooperation issues.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the prospect of deepening trade-economic cooperation between the two countries, which will help increase the volume of Chinese investments in Georgia, as well as increase the awareness of Georgian products on the Chinese market.

The Minister of Finance thanked the guest for funding the country's priority areas. As he noted, since 2005, the Chinese Government, due to the agreements on economic and technical cooperation, has provided the Government of Georgia with approximately $ 62 million in grants and approximately $ 4.5 million in non-interest-bearing commodity loans.

During the meeting, the Minister of Finance reiterated the importance of the "Silk Road Forum", held in Tbilisi and noted that the “Tbilisi Silk Road Forum" is an important opportunity for deepening ties between Asia and Europe.

He also emphasized the importance of providing the Ministry of Finance with X-ray inspection systems.

For his part, the Chairman of the China International Development and Cooperation Agency spoke about the successful partnership with Georgia and expressed readiness of the Chinese Government to support the financing of priority sectors for the country in the future.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Ministers Lasha Khutsishvili, Nikoloz Gagua and the Head of Revenue Service, Vakhtang Lashkaradze.
