During the next two years the Government of Germany will spend 161.7 Million Euros on Financing Priority Areas for Georgia



On 6-7 November, the Ministry of Finance held a governmental consultation on development cooperation between Georgia and the Federal Republic of Germany, after which the Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia, Nikoloz Gagua and the Head of the Eastern Europe and the Southern Caucasus Department of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Karin Jyard de Guerrero, signed an agreement on financial cooperation.

During the consultations, the current status of investment and technical assistance projects funded by the Federal Republic of Germany was discussed, as well as future plans.

The Federal Republic of Germany still continues to support investment projects in municipal infrastructure, energy efficiency and environmental protection. Support was also given to priority areas such as vocational education, strengthening of the local government and etc.

For the implementation of these projects and programs, the Federal Republic of Germany has allocated € 161.7 million, including a grant of € 21.7 million.

The Georgian side participated in the negotiations with the agencies and organizations involved in the implementation of projects financed by the Federal Republic of Germany and the German side participated in the negotiations with the Representatives of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ), the Reconstruction Credit Bank of Germany (KfW) and the International Cooperation Society of Germany (GIZ).
