Minister of Finance of Georgia Meets the World Bank Managing Director

H.E. Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia met Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of the World Bank within the framework of the Annual Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in D.C. today.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the cooperation between the World Bank and Georgia.

The Minister of Finance of Georgia spoke about the main trends in the economic development of the country, macroeconomic and fiscal parameters, ongoing and planned structural reforms, investment projects and priority areas. The discussion also covered global economic trends in the context of current geopolitical challenges. 

The World Bank Managing Director highlighted the importance of Georgia’s strong economic growth in building resilience and adequate buffers, and once again emphasized the priority of regional connectivity and the development of infrastructure related to the Middle Corridor.

The meeting was attended by Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani, World Bank Executive Director Eugene Rhuggenaath, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Rolande Pryce, Ambassador of Georgia to the United States H.E. Tamar Taliashvili, Deputy Ministers of Finance Giorgi Kakauridze and Ekaterine Guntsade, MOF Department Head for State Debt Management Irakli Kacharava.
